Range: Sub-Saharan Africa Habitat: Desert dweller Natural Diet: Small insects, occasional mice Diet at Rain Forest: Small insects, small rodents Size: 12-14 inches in total length Keeper Notes: This lizard is capable of surviving extreme temperature fluctuations. Daytime temperatures in the desert of it's home often exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Status in Wild: Unknown, believed to be stable in undisturbed areas, may be benefiting from loss of predators. |
